Course grade after the final = current grade x (1 - final weight) + final score x final weight.
So the score you need on the final = (target - current x (1 - final weight)) / final weight.
Example: you have 85%, the final is worth 20% and you want 87%: (87 - 85 x 0.8) / 0.2 = 95% on the final. A target of 90% would need 110%, which is out of reach without extra credit.
Enter your current grade, the final's weight and 90 (or 93, depending on your school's A cut-off) as the target; the calculator shows the score you need.
By its weight: a final worth 20% moves your course grade by 0.2 points for every point you score above or below your current grade.
Then that target is out of reach on the final alone. Try a lower target, or ask whether there is extra credit.
