How it works

  1. Enter each class with its exam date and how hard it is for you (easy, medium or hard).
  2. Enter your start date and how many hours a week you can study.
  3. Get a week-by-week schedule with hours per class and what to focus on each week, then print it or save it as a PDF.

How the hours are shared out

Each class gets a share of your weekly hours in proportion to its difficulty (easy 1, medium 2, hard 3). In the two weeks before a class's exam its share doubles, and after the exam it drops out so the time moves to the classes still ahead. Hours are rounded to half-hour blocks that always add up to your weekly total.

Example: 10 hours a week, Biology (hard) with its exam in 24 days and History (medium) in 13 days. In week 1 History is inside its last two weeks, so the weights are 3 and 4: Biology gets 4.5 hours and History 5.5. After the History exam, Biology gets all 10.

Frequently asked questions

How does the schedule decide how many hours each class gets?

Each class gets a share of your weekly hours in proportion to how hard you rated it (easy 1, medium 2, hard 3). In the two weeks before a class's exam its share doubles, and after the exam it drops out so the time goes to the classes still ahead.

How many hours a week should I study?

A common rule of thumb for college is 2 to 3 hours outside class for every credit hour, so about 6 to 9 hours a week for a 3-credit course. Enter what you can realistically keep up; a plan you follow beats an ambitious one you abandon.

What should I do in each study session?

The plan suggests a focus by how far away each exam is: more than 3 weeks out, learn the material and make notes and flashcards; 1 to 3 weeks out, practise questions and quiz yourself on weak topics; in exam week, do timed practice papers and review your mistakes.

Is my schedule saved?

It is kept in this browser on this device only, so it is still there when you come back. Nothing is sent to us. Use Print to keep a paper copy or save it as a PDF.
